Job Description:

nou Systems, Inc. has openings in Colorado Springs, CO for talented engineers and scientists to provide technical services for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Army Test & Evaluation Command (ATEC) System Team (AST), part of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Operational Test Agency (OTA) Team. The BMDS OTA Team provides an independent operational assessment of the BMDS capability to defend the United States, its deployed forces, friends, and allies against ballistic missiles of all ranges and in all phases of flight. The GMD AST plans, integrates and conducts testing, operational assessments, and independent evaluations of the GMD system.

Duties include: Apply engineering principles and scientific investigative techniques to support planning, execution, analysis, assessment, and reporting on the GMD system. Participate in meetings and test events, which may include overseas travel, and carefully document complete and accurate observations noted in test events. Perform analysis of test events to support the GMD AST and prepare briefings and reports summarizing analysis and assessments. Work autonomously and lead teams of engineers and scientists to investigate complex GMD system behavior, and produce complete technical products. Direct technical work of others, assess GMD through synthesis of analytical results and expert judgment, review technical documentation, conduct analytical studies, and prepare technical reports/briefings on research findings.  More experienced candidates are also expected to demonstrate innovative application of technical skills to develop intellectual property, solve challenging problems, and serve as a source of professional and technical knowledge accumulated through experience.

Preferred Skills:

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, the candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 6-12 years of experience, Master’s degree and 4-10 years of experience, or Ph.D. and 2-8 years experience in one of the following disciplines: engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or computer science. Applicant must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be proficient with office automation tools.  Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Employment requires the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.

Desired experience includes: GMD system experience including GMD Fire Control (GFC), Ground-based Interceptor (GBI), Exo-atmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV), In-Flight Interceptor Communications System Data Terminal (IDT), and strategic radar systems, such as Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWRs). Preferred applicants will have experience in one or more of the following areas:  conducting complex analytical studies, developing or adapting analysis tools, building reusable, well documented MATLAB/Python utilities, and assessing the suitability, effectiveness, survivability, and interoperability of the GMD system.
