nou Systems, Inc. (nSI) has an opening for a Mid-level Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama to provide technical services to the Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) Position, Navigation, and Timing Laboratory, which models, develops, and assesses PNT technologies under realistic environments. 

Candidate will develop advanced hardware design methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems.  Candidate will plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support personnel and electronics technicians in the performance of assigned projects.  The candidate will conduct investigations and tests of considerable complexity, recommend corrections in technical applications and analysis, evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services, and provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for junior employees.  Candidate will be expected to design and prepare technical reports and related documentation, and make charts and graphs to record results.  The candidate will work autonomously and as part of a team of engineers and scientists, as necessary, to investigate system behaviors. Candidates are expected to demonstrate innovative application of technical skills to develop intellectual property, solve challenging problems, and serve as a source of professional and technical knowledge accumulated through experience.

Preferred Skills:

To qualify for this position, the candidate should possess an advanced degree in an applicable science (Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics).  It is expected that the candidate has experience with developing, testing, and analyzing the performance of digital communications systems, designing and conducting experiments using radio frequency devices and instrumentation, and building software interfaces to hardware.

It is highly desired that the candidate has experience with PNT and GPS communication systems, knowledge of Kalman filtering or other optimization methods, software defined radio platforms, and challenges in the Cyber domain related to threat modeling and analysis.

Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be proficient with office automation tools and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
